Event Details
Do you have a passion that has inspired a product or service idea you’d like to explore?
Do you have an established business that you need to recharge, refresh or relaunch?
Or maybe you want to explore your entrepreneurial side and don’t know where to start.
Our team of experienced entrepreneurs will provide you with insights, information and connections to help move you forward in all of these directions. As a group, we’ll work together to explore a variety of important areas that all entrepreneurs need to dive into and master including creativity, ideas and innovation, marketing, social media, brand development, office productivity, networking and much more.
What’s in it for You?
This introductory session will offer participants an overview of three subject areas:
Idea Generation/Creativity (Shawn MacDonell)
One thing in life is inevitable, change, but so many companies are almost never ready for it. This session will ask all the questions you need to generate new ideas, build on old ideas, and help you get comfortable with change and the process of being creative in your industry. How do you stay ahead of the game? Simple, work like a kid! Play with crayons! Dream and DO!
Social Media - Why Bother? (Susan Murphy)
Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, and blogs; social media is all the buzz right now in the business world. But can social media really help you gain a competitive edge, attract new customers, and get repeat business? Or is it just “playing around”? In this session, we’ll explore how social media is revolutionizing the way people do business, and learn some easy ways to get comfortable with the many tools of the social Web.
Office Productivity Gems (Patti Church)
As business people, we're all required to complete similar tasks: report writing, presentations, communication, project planning and planning, on-going learning, networking, business development, marketing, and financials. In our Gems session, we will share online tools that have increased our productivity and made an impact in our businesses. Gems is all about working smarter, affecting your business and having fun.
Our Presenters/Faciliators/Entrepreneurs:
Shawn MacDonell - is the founder and head of crayons at Creativision, a company that strives to help others add a pulse to their passions through its consulting and coaching programs. Since 2005 Creativision has been on the leading edge of youth development, education, and entrepreneurial design.
Susan Murphy - is a total technology geek, with a passion for all things online. She’s a partner at Jester Creative Inc., where she helps people tell their stories using a variety of traditional and new media. When she’s not tweeting, blogging, and podcasting up a storm, Susan also teaches video production and new media at Algonquin College and consults on digital communication and social media marketing.
Patti Church - is a social architect, marketeer and technology explorer. As a founder of WhyHire.me, she has developed a social network for personal branding targeted at post-secondary students. Her desire to teach has brought her into the classroom at Algonquin College. Patti also keeps really busy through consulting in social media, innovation, change management and branding.
